The First Baptist Church of Canton will only perform Christian weddings; this is through our belief of the Holy Covenant of Husband and Wife, which was instituted by God, regulated by His commandments, and blessed by our Lord Jesus Christ.  With this belief that was given to us through the Holy Scriptures, a profession of faith in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior and premarital counseling is required before a Holy marriage ceremony will be performed.  Although these are suggested guidelines, final approval for each wedding will be at the discretion of the pastor.

Other Considerations:
A wedding is a service of worship.  It counts on the special presence of the Lord, which is promised to all who gather in His name.  The couples being married in a church setting are asking for God's help in making a success of their marriage.  We believe that each couple must seek God's help in keeping the serious vows that were made in the presence of God at their wedding.  We ask that no flash pictures be taken during the ceremony to avoid distractions.  We ask that rose petals or bubbles only be used as the Bride and Groom depart.  Birdseed, rice, or sparklers are not to be used.  If flower petals are to be dropped, a runner must be used.  In the event of damages to church property the Bride and/or Groom are responsible for the cost of repairs.  The Deacon of Property will contact the Bride and/or Groom concerning damages and/or repairs.
